Low-dissipation analog power supply using automatic 3-stage technology, with a single output voltage
- One DVM each for output voltage and output current, 1 mA or 2 mA
- Maximum output currents: 2 A up to 10 V, 1 A up to 20 V, and 0.6 A up to 29 V (0.3 A up to 12 V, 24 V, 31 V)
- Additional potentiometer Pz for precise adjustment of low output voltages
- Large smoothing (reservoir) electrolytic capacitors
- Makes full use of the no-load voltages
- Minimal voltage drop across the regulating element
- Ripple voltage below 7 mV peak-to-trough in each case at maximum output currents
- Warning LED when the output voltage approaches the supply voltage (yellow)
- Current-peak LED
So that no mains voltage has to be routed onto the PCB, the two PCB-mount transformers for the digital voltmeters have their windings reversed (primary and secondary swapped).
Naturally, a self-built power supply is far more expensive than a ready-made one, but it brings learning and enjoyment.
Before switching the power supply on for the first time, it has proven worthwhile to check all component connections carefully with an ohmmeter, with the ICs not yet fitted. This saves you hours or days of fault-finding.
